Title: Portents from Spring 809
Post by: Misia on April 17, 2018, 06:01:16 am
A shadowy beaked creature walks towards you and the other Champions.
She holds out one claw, beckoning. I will help you, she says, for your
enemy is my enemy. If you wish to learn more, there is a way. Behind
her, the air itself shivers and ripples and you sense a great and
terrible potential. You have been offered a choice, one that can offer
great rewards, but one that will come with great danger.
-This one is obviously the Malifer that came to us at the beginning of the gathering and took us into the Weave with her. We found out that the Nightmare Lord was Fara.

You battle a seemingly endless tide of harrowed and other creatures of
nightmare. And yet it is strange, as if you are not yourself. As if
you walk in the steps of another, long dead. But the echoes of the
past hold the keys to the future, and so you fight on.
-Again, the beginning of the gathering. We discovered that when we died during the battle, we would gain access to memories of people who had died long ago, presumably in the first Nightmare War.

The leaders gather. The mood is tense, yet hopeful. One of them
speaks. Together we can make a stand. Together we can defeat the
Nightmare Lord, once and for all! Other voices lift in agreement, only
to fall silent as a figure steps forward, to confront them. He raises
his arms, speaking something. You catch a glimpse of the two linked
rings upon his brow.
-A later part of the giant Weavewalk, where we saw the leaders of the various lands were killed by the Nightmare Lord.

A man stands at a crossroads. Someone walks up to him, and speaks.
“What will it be Carver? Are you with them, or against them?”
-I didn't see him at all. Did anyone else?
-Carver assisted us in a few ways most especially by providing an important and useful chunk of information.  Unfortunately, it would seem that one enemy escaped, and now Carver is in peril. (Tasi)

Figures in leather and fur move through the low, stone tunnel. Their
torches catch the silvery lace of spiderwebs, hanging from the rocky
walls ahead. Something else gleams, lower. Words, inscribed upon the
wall. But as they move forward, something slips from the shadows
toward them, growling low, showing a mouthful of sharp teeth….
-Bjorn's sister (Arteo?) received a letter and map from Kotodun with a request to collect spider silk from a specific location in order to repair a bridge across a steep crevasse. I opened the pathfold using the map, and brought Bjorn's sister, Bjorn, Shoshonne, Kornelli, Lucient, and the young Quena.  As expected from the portent, we discovered that the cave/trench where the spiders lived was also inhabited by wolves.  Luckily, we escaped without too much difficulty, though the fighting was fierce.  (Tasi)

The two figures stand before the white flower. Others gather round,
and voices lift in song. The sky grows dark, and the figures depart.
As light returns, so do the singers, and now they are joined by
someone new, a spectral figure who seems to float above the earth,
light shining through their form.
-This was a man and woman who came to us Saturday night to ask us to help sing his family's song at the remembrance grove, to ask his great grandmother's blessing on their marriage. We sang the song down there that night. They were going to come back on Sunday morning for the second part, but apparently weren't able to get back. (Miri)

The man with the strange name you cannot pronounce holds up six
colorful stakes, and six small parcel, and six ropes. You and others
gather round, playing a game, laughing and making merry. But you see a
shadow of yourself, of other companions, playing the same game in
another place, somewhere dark, with walls of glossy black stone. And
you are not laughing.
-Layla, Hazel, Tanzig, and I did play the game, which was really fun. We tried to talk to the Ambassador about the origins of the game, but didn't get really any information out of him. Layla, did anyone happen to Divine on the hoops? It just occurred to me that we should do that if we didn't. We did keep then, so at least we can play again. The dark place with glossy, black stone walls is presumably Evensong Keep.

Figures wander through the woods, their voices soft and friendly. They
have an aura about them, somehow deeply akin to that of the Dreaming
Goddess and her followers. Their sing-song voices remind you of the
Ashensena. And yet when you look upon them you feel a great and
terrible sorrow.
-We do not know anything about the figures singing. Our best guess was it relates to Kasar from the weavewalk. (Layla)

From Layla:
You feel like this is happening to you: You are inncocent! INNOCENT! Suddenly I am in an abyss, and a gaping maw tears at me relentlessly.
-Rial Pendewag. We would prefer not to get into more details here but what happened to him was wrong and horrible. (Layla)

You see a young person wearing a Dantessan mask. The person screams, as they are pulled away, wrapped in threads that rip them from the world. You call out Donzel! You run forward, opening a path, chasing after them.  They are just beyond reach, but you lunge forward, trying to seize Donzel by the arm, to pull them to safety. But what you pull free is not Donzel. It is three figures. One shimmers with a yellow light. The other with crimson. The last with blue. You stare in confusion at them, uncertain how to proceed…
-Donzel- our understanding is that there are those among the expedition who know this one. We saw Niko with a red "scarf" that came form the aftermath of this portent coming true. Kisaira also knows more of the situation.(Layla)

They come, summoned, to the meeting. They do not know what to expect. Revelation or betrayal. The guide meets them and they are open-mouthed. One run forward, jingling, to throw arms around the guide.
-related to the Weavewalk 5th night. (Layla)

This seems like it also had to do with what you all saw on the giant Weavewalk.

Ooh, did anyone see anything related to this? This sounds interesting!

A group of us did go into Evensong Keep this gather.  We did end up in a place with words on plaques on the wall having to do with several gods of the ancient Northlands.

The only thing we fought there was spiders.  However, the thing that growled with teeth might have been the dog spirit Hoot, who we saw later in the night with the basilisk and her minions.

Bjorn's sister (help me, please) received a letter and map from Kotodun with a request to collect spider silk from a specific location in order to repair a bridge across a steep crevasse.

we doubled on a number of Misia's so will only add portents we got that she didn't...

You feel like this is happening to you: You are inncocent! INNOCENT! Suddenly I am in an abyss, and a gaping maw tears at me relentlessly.

Bjorn's sister is Art, well at least that is our nickname for her.

Interpretations:
Of ours- The innocent one is of Rial Pendewag. We would prefer not to get into more details here but what happened to him was wrong and horrible.
Donzel- our understanding is that there are those among the expedition who know this one. We saw Niko with a red "scarf" that came form the aftermath of this portent coming true. Kisaira also knows more of the situation.
Meeting- We know the meaning of this and got to speak with one we thought dead.

The leaders meeting, waves of harrowed and nightmare, and beaky creature are all related to the Weavewalk 5th night.

The game, Misia, Hazel, Tazhek, and myself learned but I do not know that the second part has come to pass yet.and yes, we believe it is Evensong Keep.

We do not know anything about the figures singing. Our best guess was it relates to Kasar from the weavewalk...

Maybe Shepard's mistake will actually 'elp Carver.  She apparently mis'eard you the night before, and t'ought you were worried d'at 'e was back sliding, so made 'im darn socks for a while.  Maybe 'is contacts will t'ink someone ELSE betrayed him.

I can only hope that is the case.  Strict supervision is his friend right now.  I am worried.  My fear is that they will see it as some form of ruse rather than an actual arrest.  Loose lips may also sink him.

I also need to remember that Morgan is deaf in her left ear and always speak to her from her right side.

Also, paranoia solves nothing!

dark portents Artieo received this event that have not already been mentioned (that I noticed)

The woman in the blue mask leads the way into the night.  This way, she says.  They said they would meet me here.  But as you follow after her, you see that her feet leave strange, red marks against the spring earth.  Bloody footprints.  You see the flash of a dagger, held to a bare neck.  Someone pleading for their life.  A hand, holding out something that gleams.  I will trade you, a voice says, you may have this life, but you must give my master something in return.

The man with the streak in his hair weeps, as he stands, staring out the window toward the north.  Jethe, he whispers, under his breath.  I am sorry.  I will find the truth.  Behind him, over his shoulder, you see a young woman standing, watching him.  Her expression is hard, unhappy.  She turns away.

It's raining, a hard rain.  You run for cover under your favorite tree.  You look up and wonder "what do they do up there?"  Then branches begin to fall, one, two, five... you run in terror as you see the tree crumble before your eyes.

Bella, the keeper of the midden, enters while you eat breakfast.  She is obviously distraught, and wringing her hands.  Her messy gray hair is even worse than usual, and her face is tear streaked "No no!  The midden must be in layers!  It must cycle.  Yes, layers... or it will disappear into uselessness.  Chaos, chaos, it builds from the deep old places!  The old thing destroys, it does not keep with the cycle!  We must protect the layers!"

I had a couple of others, but I think they have been addressed (one was clearly about the arrival of the basilisk, and another related to the black stone keep and the ghostly figure of the favored)

Artio

Your first is about a situation that happened with Fiordelise. We were unable to save the kidnapped person but as we were able to keep their corpse from harm, hopefully the Fell was kind to them. The party of champions with her kept Fiordelise from harm or doing what the man wanted. Viola or Wag are good people to touch on for more information.

The second likely has to do with Jethe Yorik, the lady that perished at the gala. The man is likely her lover. The woman is likely the man's wife. However we do not know the details more than that. Mercutio said he would pay well for any information that could be found on this sad issue and would likely be the person to talk to for more information.

Uncertain on the next. Though it sounds like something to do with a disease or rot.

Bella was the older lady asking for help with the midden. We were not particularly involved other then helping herd goats so others may know more but we believe we were successful in aiding her.

Layla and Artio,

I am currently dedicating my time to trying to figure out the truth behind Jethe's death. I have a few solid clues that should guide my investigation well. I will share my findings with others once my research is complete and I have had time to share said information with her Most Favored Sigeo Boniface.

In service,
