Title: [Planned Weavewalk]: The 'Weapon' and it's attendant politics.
Post by: Qoon on April 29, 2018, 02:09:33 pm
We are on the cusp of the renewal ritual. There is evidence now that the ritual itself is tied to the 'Weapon' being developed by the Queen of the North, and/or to the Ashensing; further that the ritual and/or the Ashensing may in fact be the weapon

The Royals disagreed as to how the weapon should be used.  We know that Kasar ultimately brought the Ashensing out of the North, after the queen (and, I believe, consort) were slain.

We also know the Ashensing has been changed, and have evidence that it was changed deliberately, over the past centuries.

What we DO NOT know, is what this ritual might actually do, or if it has been corrupted or perverted.  Going at this question directly is no doubt dangerous, as there are forces capable of observing, diverting, and destroying efforts to inquire into the weave.

I am, therefore, going to try a somewhat oblique approach and weavewalk to the nature of the disagreement about the weapon.  I believe it is quite likely that understanding the nature of that dispute will give us insight into how the Ashensing and/or Ritual may have been tampered with.  Understanding what it is that we are meant to do, from both perspectives, is absolutely vital before we possibly fall into a trap laid centuries ago by a foe we believed to be defeated.

I seek a second on this journey, as well as companions. If you wish to accompany me, say so here, and tell me what your interest is as well as what primary skills you can bring.

Know this: I run my weavewalks the way a brutal schoolmaster runs a classroom; If you cannot follow my instructions during the walk, then consider waiting until we have returned, I will gladly share whatever I learn with as many as would wish it.  I expect this walk to be extremely dangerous.

I am interested, for the reasons that came up during the conversation that sparked the idea for this weavewalk. I can elaborate more, should it be helpful.

I am also a Weavewalker as well as Favored of the Dreaming Goddess. My strengths there lie more towards supportive rather than combative.

I would like to go, as Serai's safety is my responsibility.  My faith in Chaudette and my shield are my primary strengths.

While you seek an oblique approach, I will be taking a more direct one, as requested by another.  I will be entering the Weave to find the original lyrics of the Ashensing.  I suspect that I may need a deft and skilled scribe familiar with the Old Tongue as part of the group, but I shall leave that to the one who asked me to undertake this trip.

If you want a second for that one, I will return the favor you paid me. I suspect we should compare notes extensively when we're done as our results will inform each other.

We are happy to tag along on any Weavewalks folks need bodies for. We have many things to bring! Particularly our lights! Also Because it can be really hard to see in the Weave! And our bells protect against bad mojo! Oh and we like the old language and can almost recognize words in it. Oh! And we have a sword and sometimes can even use it pretty well (thatís what someone told us anyways. I donít think they were talking about me though)! Does that count? Oh oh and if anyone sees a small boy or girl in the weave, or odd threads on anything please let us know! Oh!

If we canít go because many people want to help that is also fine, donít feel bad about telling us we canít go. Everyone deserves a chance to play in the Weave.

As someone who is very interested in the "Heretic" Queen, and in the Old Language and rituals in genearal, I'd be interested in accompanying you. I have no battle or defensive skills. I am a Healer, Weavewalker, and have been working with the Old Language a fair amount since coming to the North.  If needed, I have the ability to strengthen the Weave in order to allow one more person than would otherwise be able to come.
