Pottery shards
« on: April 16, 2018, 08:17:11 am »
I know we've been finding pottery shards, but 1, where we've been finding them and 2, more details about the pottery, I have no idea.  (Has anyone divined on them?)

Reese gave me a bunch, since I can read all the languages, and I figured I should transcribe them.

From April 809:
Rumbletongue: "...needs more drums!  This holy music Falloran seeks will not be meekly sung, but must..."

Ancient Zhek: "...delivery of coffee has been accepted with great cheer the Zhad general's daughter Ilya..."

Silverspeech: "...believes these strange creatures of dream and nightmae may be born from the schism created by..."

Sapsong: "...negotiations for common defense, even if they have not suffered attacks in the Northland as yet.  It is only a matter of time.  On a lighter note, Tharon performed the Song of the Bear for the Zhad queen and she was most amused and requested..."

I believe a number of these were found by the river (panning or fishing or similar). If others were found from different locations, that would be very interesting.

Zecharias had a bunch of these back in the winter, when we had the gala, which I think had also been found in the river. I only have a note about one of them, which was in Silverspeech along with one word in the old language. I wrote down "Bazogondun - the golden plains."

Someone (Bull, I t'ink) had some and gave me one d'at was written in Ancient Zoku.  I t'ink 'e got it from fishing, but not sure.

It said: "send swiftest runners, sharpest archers, and mightiest champions of Jaddora to complete in the Harvest Games to be"

Anyone know what "Jaddora" is?

I believe Falloran was The Most Favored of the Dreaming Goddess, perhaps at the time the Ashensing was created.

The Silverspeech shard sounds like it's talking about Reveries and Malifers, and perhaps the division between the Lady of the Moon and the Singer of Shadows.

From one of Zecharias's trove, which I saw just before de Gala:

Ancienyt Zoku:  "now Prince Kazar [sic] comes with gathered hosts to join his sister in battle against the Singer of Shadows using our new weapon, but Queen Sar"

Sorry for the late reply, but I have a number of pottery shards. As previously stated, these (to my knowledge) have all come from panning:

  • Ancient Zhek (in a childlike hand)
"Dear Princess Ankyan, You must jest with me. I cannot believe even your noble hound could have caught such a..."
  • Old Dantessi
"...gather readings from aetheric gauges set out by Master Troyvich in order to..."
  • Rumbletongue
"...we lay to rest Hella Ormhildursdotter, Warlord of the Iron Goat Clan, who fell bravely in battle against the great Gray One perverted by the Nightmare Lord..."
  • Silverspeech
"...nature thrives in harmony, yet when there is discord the alternate melody can be beautiful..."
  • Old Dantessi
"...believe the celestial event had some effect upon the weave itself, perhaps releasing greater power into those channels that would impact not just those practitioners of so-called Wild Magic but also the Favored and perhaps even the..."
  • Ancient Zoku
"...leaves pointing north towards a change in the wind..."
  • Ancient Zoku
"...follow the old byways, part the three-fold waterfall, northwest of Moon Water, to the Speaking Stones where our ancestors marked the passage of..."
  • Sapsong
"...find the Tree of the Stargazer, where the Farseer first beheld the Great Comet that would bring such change..."
  • Silverspeech
"...what should we do when the rains do not come but the locust do? What should we do when..."
  • Silverspeech (and I think ritual language)
"...the Forty-Seventh Year of Concordance, I Johan first undertake the Faith in Wisdom... NONSHOZU DIPISEN, MIL JOHAN SOPUMOSHONA MATUTHONA'ATALA PIN TA'OMUN"
  • Sapsong
"...an evil dissipates when once contained while the vessel reaches out..."
  • Ancient Zhek
"...as their crimes have stricken our hearts, so their names are..."

Thank you for sharing everyone! Does Bull frequent these boards? Could we get his as well?

Marcel, Sem and I would like to try a divination on your Silverspeech pottery shard to see if we can find out more of what it spoke of if you don't mind.

Solana, are those pottery shards all from this gather? Or are they just ones that have been found over time?

Solana, your shards are most interesting. There are quite a few that I would just LOVE to be able to complete.

Ummm.  Could you just double check to make sure d'at t'is is in Ancient Zhek and not Zuko?  Because Princess Ankyan was from de Nort'lands.  And if it is in Zhek, it raises an interesting question.

It could very well be accurate, Chel.  The Princess was practicing writing to a Master Vestos’s grandson in Zhekiza.

Very sorry for replying so late to this! Almost all of them are from two gatherings ago (June). The last four are from this past gathering.

I actually still have this shard, and I just confirmed -- it is in Ancient Zhek.
